9th November 1957: Sam finds himself in the body of Melvin Spinner, a mortician from the town of Rivenrock, Massachusetts dealing with the apparent suicide of a young German girl named Hilla Danner. Although evidence suggests that Hilla drowned herself, Sam is not so sure, and his suspicions increase when he finds what looks like a bullet hole in the girl’s temple, something that the police chief somehow “missed”. Taking on the role of coroner, Sam carries out an autopsy, but despite the lack of an exit wound, he is unable to find a bullet. As his obsession with the case grows, Sam decides to carry out his own investigation; a list of suspects quickly arises: Stephanie Heywood, Hilla’s best friend; influential businessman Roger Truesdale, and his handsome son, Greg. Then Sam learns that Hilla died on her birthday – and that she was pregnant…
